SOUTH BOYS, WARREN GIRLS WIN ERICKSON INVITATIONAL

PARKERSBURG — Belpre’s Tojzae Reams and Parkersburg’s Abby Tanner claimed high-point honors here Friday at the Erickson Invitational while the boys from Parkersburg South and the girls from Warren High captured team titles. The Patriot boys tallied 146 points, thanks in part to double-winner Dominic Collins, and finished ahead of runner-up Huntington (137) and third-place Warren (123.5). Collins went 6 feet in the high jump to top teammates Mason Cheuvront and Levi Rice. He also nipped Reams, who won the 100 with a time of 11.30, in the 200 thanks to a 22.69 as the Golden Eagle clocked in at 23.22. The Warriors had a pair of double-winners as Justin Lough won both hurdles events (110H, 15.30; 300H, 39.68) and Trent Sayre grabbed gold in the 800 (2:02.56) and 1600 (4:39.30). Lough bested Patriot Chris Elschlager (15.30) in the 110 hurdles while Reams (40.90) was runner-up in the 300 hurdles. Elschlager won the long jump (19-4.75) and fellow Patriots Nathan Rockhold and Nate Santiago also got 10 points apiece for their wins in the discus (130-1) and pole vault (12-6), respectively. Warrior Landon Wigal was runner-up to Santiago with a vault of 11 feet. Runner-up HHS had individual top-of-the-podium finishes from Richard Edwards in the 400 (55.20), Lucas Strieter in the 2-mile (10:27.48) and Anson Fykes in the shot put (46-6.5). Edwards held off Parkersburg’s Kiran Patel (55.90). Strieter topped Golden Eagle Jackson Plummer (10:33.69) and Belpre’s Collin Alloway had a heave of 43 feet, 1 inch to finish behind Fykes. Tanner was one of three female thinclads to collect two wins. The Big Red finished the 100 in 12.80 and the 200 in 27.26 to top runner-up La’Tahia Jackson of Huntington in each event. South’s Erin Williams won the high jump (5-0) and the long jump (15-10). Lexi Dugan of PHS was runner-up in the high jump (4-10) and Patriot Madi Gersper went 14 feet, 10 inches to place second in the long jump. Warren’s Millie Ryan topped the field in both throwing events — shot put (33-8) and discus (107-9). Warrior Kate Liston was second in the discus and Big Red Jaden Gardner was runner-up in the shot put. The victorious Warriors also had first-place efforts from Emme Bowe in the 400, who edged teammate Allison Werry (1:02.10 to 1:02.60), and in the pole vault from Erin Bogard (11-6). Warren’s Pearl Harriott cleared 9 feet to finish second in the pole vault. Warren’s other first-place effort came in the 2-mile where Casey Brague went 12:30.67. The Warriors had 163 points to best runner-up PHS (116.5) and third-place SHS (114.5). Parkersburg South’s other victories came in the 1600 with Abby Herring topping Warrior Devanne Reynolds (5:38.0 to 5:44.1) and in the 300 hurdles, where Sierra Hays finished in 49.66 to knock off PHS’ Emily Kupfner (50.15) and Parkersburg Catholic’s Aaliyah Brunny (50.77). Also winning individual events for the girls were Belpre’s Sydney Spencer, who went 2:26.36 to top teammate Karley Bell (2:34.16) in the 800, and Huntington’s Rayana Bradshaw. The Highlander finished the 100 hurdles with a clocking of 16.40 as the Warrior Bogard placed runner-up just two-tenths of a second off her pace. Warren’s girls collected 30 points thanks to relay wins in the 4×100 (Allison Werry, Bowe, Hope Murdock, Bogard, 53.48); 4×200 (Murdock, Werry, Bowe, Bogard, 1:52.40) and 4×400 (Bowe, Murdock, Werry, Brague, 4:27.40). Herring, Emily Dugan, Amber Flinn and Hays finished the 4×800 with a victorious clocking of 10:24.55. Gersper and Hays were joined by Allie Perkins and Emily Yanok on the winning shuttles team which finished in 1:09.43. Parkersburg South’s boys also had wins in the shuttles (59.05) and the 4×100 (44.89). Elschlager, Collins, Kyle Carpenter and Tommy Habeb got the job done in the 4×100 while Corey Beverage, Elschlager, Collins and Haden McConnell comprised the winning shuttles squad. Lough and Sayre ran legs on the Warriors’ 4×400 (3:36.26) first-place team along with Preston Rowland-Demster and Kyle Burns. Rowland-Demster, Jake Herriott, Gavin Ott and Sayre clocked in at 8:38.17 to finish first in the 4×800. Huntington sped to victory in the 4×200 with a time of 1:34.60 thanks to the quartetof Keshon Bryant, Malik Grier, Devin Jackson and Isiah Nash.
