THURSDAY, MARCH 22, 5:30PM EDT PARKERSBURG SOUTH PATRIOTS VARSITY GOES DOWN ON FINAL PLAY AGAINST POINT PLEASANT

A walk-off left Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Point Pleasant on Thursday. The game was tied at four with Point Pleasant batting in the bottom of the eighth when Kelsie Byus singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Point Pleasant got on the board in the first inning when Tanner King homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Point Pleasant evened things up at four in the bottom of the seventh inning when Leah Cochran hit a solo homer. Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity put up three runs in the fourth inning. Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity offense in the inning was led by Rhylee Graham and Kylee McCorkle, all driving in runs in the inning. Cochran was the winning pitcher for Point Pleasant. She allowed zero hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. Makayla Hannah took the loss for Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity. She allowed four hits and three runs over five and a third innings, striking out four. Peyton Jordan started the game for Point Pleasant. She surrendered four runs on seven hits over three and a third innings. Jordan Stanley started the game for Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity. She went two and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one. Point Pleasant socked three home runs on the day. King had a dinger in the first inning. Cochran had a homer in the fifth and seventh innings. Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity totaled seven hits in the game. Kurin Worgull and Kelly Amos each collected multiple hits for Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity. Amos and Worgull each collected two hits to lead Parkersburg South Patriots Varsity. Point Pleasant racked up eight hits. King, Byus, and Cochran all collected multiple hits for Point Pleasant.
