SWIMMING South’s Collins claims OVAC title WELLSBURG — Parkersburg South’s five-year reign of supremacy came to a close here Saturday as the Patriot boys finished runner-up to Wheeling Park, 431-258, after claiming the past five OVAC 5A swim championships. Patriot Dominic Collins had the only championship win thanks to his 22.32 effort in the 50 freestyle. Collins was runner-up in the 100 freestyle after touching the wall in 49.57. Head coach Steve Lutz’ squad also had a runner-up showing from Macguire McDuff in the 100 backstroke (59.37). McDuff’s clocking of 1:55.69 in the 200 freestyle was good for third. Makayla Burns led the PSHS girls with a fourth-place showing in the 500 freestyle as well as a fifth-place effort in the 200 freestyle.
